Woodpeckers new StabilMaxRT+ Router Table System lets you instantly switch from router table to extended-base hand-held routing…and back…without tools, knobs or clips of any kind. The router base snaps in and out of the router table effortlessly, as fast as you can grab it. That one feature sets StabilMaxRT+ head and shoulders above anything else out there, but that's just the beginning. No other bench top router table on the market can match StabilMaxRT+ for feature set, versatility or value. For instance, the folding legs are rock-solid in use and compact when you're on the go. The fence adjusts and locks easily and has micro-adjustment to dial in your critical settings. And, we use high-quality Baltic Birch plywood instead of MDF or particle board for the core of the table. StabilMaxRT+ works with most 1-1/2HP to 2-1/2HP mid-sized, fixed-base routers that use a symmetrical 3-hole baseplate pattern (see compatibility chart). It also fits the most popular corded and cordless palm routers. Imagine working with a full-featured router table, then instantly using the same bit at the same setting for hand-held work. Also think about how convenient it would be to have a couple different routers set up with different bits, swapping them in and out of the table as needed.
Works with Most Fixed-Base Routers…Corded or Cordless!
The StabilMaxRT+ system starts with its versatile router base. The original StabilMaxRT Router Table accepted most corded and cordless palm routers. But by enlarging the base just a little, StabilMax RT+ accepts all the same routers and most mid-sized fixed-base routers, too. When doing hand-held routing, you have the extra stability of an extended base. When you need the precision of a router table, just snap the base into the table and get to it.
The router table itself has some nifty features, starting with the material it's made from. While most competitive tables are made from 3/4" (or thinner) particle board, the StabilMaxRT+ router table is 1" thick, 17-ply Baltic Birch plywood with black micro-dot laminate on both sides. The opening for the router base is precisely machined for a snug fit and an ingenious rubber bumper provides the perfect grip to hold the base firmly. We machine the fence track slots directly into the plywood, removing less material and retaining more strength than tables with embedded aluminum track.
The underside of the table has track clamp slots, allowing you to clamp the router table to the edge of your workbench. This lowers the working height and leaves the top of your workbench clear. If this is how you'll use your StabilMaxRT+ all the time, you can remove the legs, but even if you have the legs installed, you can still clamp StabilMaxRT+ to the edge of your bench when you don't want to tie up your bench top.
With over 3 decades of experience building top-quality router tables, we approached the fence for the StabilMaxRT+ with the goal of maximizing features while also keeping it simple to operate and affordable. The locking knobs are large and easy to grip. The fence faces adjust laterally to set the opening for the bit. They're made from MDF with a low-friction surface lamination, so it's no problem to feed them into the bit for a perfect zero-clearance fit. The fence has a built-in dust port that works with either 2-1/2" dust collection hose or 2-1/4" shop vacuum hose. Our favorite feature on the fence is on the back side. Release the large knob near the middle of the fence and dial in the precise setting of your fence with the zero-backlash micro-adjuster. That's a feature you won't find on any other bench top router table.
The StabilMaxRT+ Router Table System includes everything you need to put your router to work…leg set, router base, table top, fence, micro-adjuster, starter pin and wall-mountable Rack-It. Extra bases are available separately if you want to keep a few different routers set up. Replacement fence faces are also sold separately. If you bought the original StabilMaxRT and would like to upgrade, you can buy a new table top with the correct opening for the StabilMaxRT+ base plate.
